The Irregular Prophet
August 14, 2011

From James:

I present to you the inaugural issue of the Irregular Prophet. This newsletter is entirely the brainchild of our eldest, Shannon (12), and originally intended for “internal” publication only (that is, only among the five of us). It’s just so good, however, that I asked to publish it more broadly. She graciously agreed. Shannon is the Editor-in-Chief and all photographs are by Lindsay, but all of us contributed, as you’ll see. So without further ado…

A Renewed Purpose
August 7, 2011

From So Young:

“For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” – Philippians 1:21

Is it normal for my days to be filled with this much laughter? I don’t remember a time that I’ve ever felt more love, joy, peace, and contentment. I feel God’s hand on me daily. He’s been encouraging me to keep trusting and believing that  He has a good and perfect plan for my life. We’ve hit some rough patches in the past year, but his grace has filled me and my family with more faith. I’m alive in Christ. I don’t ever want to go back to the slumbering Christian I was. What does it matter to have the whole world, yet lose your soul? I’m also more thankful now than I’ve ever been. Things I used to grumble about have become the biggest blessings. Although I’m still waiting for a physical healing, I feel like I’ve received a huge internal healing, even as I wait for God’s eternal healing. I had been wasting my life serving myself and not God and others. I don’t know what tomorrow brings, so I keep planting my feet, one in front of the other. I know what the Lord has for me is very good. I want to live each day, every moment, for him.

Here are a few videos that have meant a lot to me recently.

This is a remixed Lecrae video that starts with part of a John Piper sermon about not wasting your life:
